Sharing My Calendar for Mental Wellness

I changed my calendar on every other Monday from "Block" to "Therapy" because that's what I'm doing and I hope it encourages anyone that sees my calendar to:

  • Prioritize their mental health

  • Be proactive about their wellbeing even before a problem comes up

  • Recognize that people at the top of an org chart are also human and while we come across as strong and like we have everything together, it's often because we have systems in place to take care of ourselves

It was such a nice coincidence to see Dan Price's LinkedIn post about normalizing mental health days. It's great that legends like Dan are helping to break down any barriers.

So leaders, are you taking care of yourself? You can't help your team unless you do.

I understand that not everyone is comfortable with being vulnerable or speaking about mental health and that's all good. And please, don't ever feel pressured to share anything with anyone or publicize anything that you're uncomfortable with.

For those of us who are comfortable with this, let's do what we can to support ourselves and our colleagues.

And thanks, Dan. I am taking a mental health day today 😎.
